The goal of renovating of a dark, claustrophobic kitchen for a young family that enjoys entertaining, resulted in a complete rethinking of adjacent dining and lounging areas. Removing all walls allows the spaces to bleed into one another and light to pour from room to room. The existing wall of windows was unchanged, with the exception of the new fireplace surround and trim.
