Our Mission
Liz is a sole practitioner with over 30 years of experience. She brings to every project—modest or high-end—her personal attention, expertise, and creativity. She offers careful listening, site- and program-specific design solutions, well-detailed construction documents, and the ability to negotiate complex regulatory processes and presentations.
Liz values the honest simplicity of New England architecture, the creative challenge of crafting small homes that live large, and the efficient use of materials and energy. She’s learned that an owner-architect-builder team, working closely from a project’s inception, is the path to delivering an elegant design solution within the owner’s budget and schedule, that will provide decades of utility and joy.

“I wanted to tell you that on Friday we had an assessor go into the house as we are refinancing. She called Pete and told him that she went back to the office and told her boss that our house was one of the top ten houses she has ever seen- commented on the amazingly efficient use of space and design and quality of construction. I thought you should know.”
— Kelly, Bock Island Homeowner, 2021

“Bazazi Design was responsible for the rehabilitation of our detached garage and its preparation for a 28-panel solar array roof installation. We sit on an historic and highly visible property and Liz's design and careful consideration of both the functionality and the aesthetic qualities was superb. Her ideas and attention to detail turned an ordinary garage into a beautiful and graceful structure worthy of being alongside of our showpiece Victorian house nearby. To our delight, the solar panels are hardly noticeable as her plans envisioned. Her blueprints were exacting and she made the extra effort to meet with our carpenter to ensure everything was in order. This saved on time, questions and materials in the end and made for an efficient project completed under budget and on time. It was easy to work with Liz from start to finish and we are very highly satisfied with the end result. We recommend Liz as she is a creative, very knowledgeable, experienced, and talented professional.”

“Liz was our savior when we put our in-law addition on our home. She totally thinks outside the box and is a master of small spaces. Three years later and we still marvel at the functionality, beautiful site lines, interior flow, and exterior blend with our existing home.”

“Liz Bazazi is a very talented architect. She is currently working on a very complicated addition to our home doubling the square footage and dealing with very complicated roof lines. Her ability to problem-solve this job is amazing. She is extremely organized and creative.”
— Maris, Hadlyme, CT Homeowner, 2014
“Ms. Bazazi worked for me as a design architect in 1998, guiding a renovation I was doing on what had been the first small hotel built in the Thimble Islands in 1845. The property is now a 6,300 sq ft family home with 11 bedrooms. The challenge was to maintain the charm and tradition of the building. Ms. Bazazi designed a new 2-story kitchen and redid the master bedroom as well as adding a sunrise porch with pergola to the already existing sunset porch - all with connecting decks. She worked up a budget after confirming with the construction manager and listened to my ideas and vision as well as giving me valuable feedback.
I was satisfied enough to engage Ms. Bazazi again 6 years later to renovate a cottage on the same property. The challenge was different in that the cottage was 1,500 sq ft. She came up with a very creative design to maintain the charm but balance form and functionality as well as maintain a connection with nature and views of the water. There are a master bedroom and two smaller bedrooms. A nautical theme runs throughout the cottage with amazing brightwork and a screened in porch. Those living in the islands say the cottage is one of the most beautiful, warm, and inviting in the islands.”
And in 2022- “Enclosed is a packet of architectural renderings and schematics which I have saved. Included in this packet are drawings that you did in 2006 envisioning what the cottage renovation could look like. Quite emotional stuff seeing how the vision ended up so close to reality. So much fun to convert a dream into reality! You did a great job!”
