Hammonasset River Residence

Killingworth, CT

1998

This addition, reorganization of interior spaces, and site work improved the flow both from room to room and from interior to exterior of this 1980 ‘stock’ saltbox. Referencing New England’s attached barn tradition, the addition projects 45 degrees from the existing structure toward the river bend. The change in materials and orientation, and use of a half-height walls at the upper level reduce the addition’s prominence.
